Aryo Danusiri adalah seorang asisten dosen antropologi di Universitas Indonesia. Bekerja sama dengan Sensory Ethnography Lab, dia menyandang gelar Ph.D. di Social Anthropology dengan Critical Media Practice dari Harvard. Penelitiannya mengeksplorasi tanda-tanda kekerasan, perlawanan, dan ingatan yang menggambarkan ulang sisi politik dan sosial pascareformasi. Artikelnya mengenai pergerakan Islam di Jakarta banyak dikutip oleh Global South. Karyanya banyak diputar di berbagai festival bergengsi, seperti Rotterdam, Amnesty Amsterdam, dan New Asia Current dari Yamagata. Film dokumenter panjang pertamanya, Playing Between Elephants, dianugerahi penghargaan “Movies That Matters for Best Human Rights Film” dalam Jakarta International Film Festival pada 2007 dan “Best Documentary” dalam Brussels Independent IFF.

Aryo Danusiri is an assistant professor of anthropology at the Universitas Indonesia. An affiliate of the Sensory Ethnography Lab, he holds a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology with Critical Media Practice from Harvard. His research works have been exploring the circulations of new signs of violence, resistance, and memory in reconfiguring the political and social landscape of post-authoritarian Indonesian 1998. His article on the contemporary Islamic movement in Jakarta has been widely cited in the emerging interest in urban religion in the Global South. His artistic works have premiered at various prestigious festivals, including Rotterdam, Amnesty Amsterdam, and Yamagata’s ‘New Asia Current.’ His first feature-length documentary, Playing Between Elephants, was awarded ‘Movies That Matters for Best Human Rights Film’ at Jakarta International Film Festival 2007 and ‘Best Documentary’ at Brussels Independent IFF.
